Project 1.
Adaptive Re-Use Proposal
- Interior Design Student's Thesis Project
Allison
Park, a recent Interior Design graduate from the Art
Institute of Atlanta, hired me to develop a landscape
design to incorporate in her Senior Thesis project.
My focus on water conservation practices compliments her
desire to promote responsible suburban
development.
PARK'S THESIS STATEMENT
Gwinnett County suffers from an over abundance of strip
malls, a flood of traffic, and a rapidly expanding
population, but has too few community focal points.
A new library could provide an anchor to the area.
The new Duluth Branch Library will serve as a place of
learning, gathering and personal and community
enrichment.
PROJECT PROPOSAL
The new
Duluth Branch Library will be sited in a vacant retail
space selected for its abundant square footage and
parking. The interior design theme is predicated
on the circle and its radii, symbolizing a community and
the individuals that comprise it. The exterior
landscape design incorporates this design theme to the
greatest degree possible for the site and provides both
gathering and contemplative places, in response to Ms.
Park's Thesis Statement.
