Green Roof Educational Display for Gwinnett Technical College

This educational display at Gwinnett Tech is sited at the Smoking Pavilion between Buildings 100 and 600. While this application does not make full use of all the possible green roof benefits, the display exposes everyone on campus to this environmental protection strategy and is a useful test plot for the Environmental Horticultural students.

THE SOLUTION

An arbor-like structure on the north and west sides of the pavilion holds 10 modular green roof trays. The structure is designed so that the trays can be removed by fork-lift for easy maintenance and student safety considerations. The planting plan affords year round interest and is composed primarily, but not exclusively, of sedums.
